The supply of listings increases substantially in spring which lowers the demand for houses.
The reason you don't want to wait until the spring is because you are going to have more competition, so get it on the market right now! Inventory levels in January and February are lower, meaning the competition is very low as well (see chart below). Starting in May, the inventory levels pick up and that’s when everyone in the neighborhood is going to say well, it's the spring buying season, now it's time for me to put my house on the market. And at that time, your competition inventory levels skyrocket. So why wait? Get the house on the market now. Demand is still strong and there are buyers that can't find the house they are looking for so let's help them!
